More tinkering at the TX site

Last weekend saw a fairly major change behind the scenes at RBSK.

The audio pre-processing software was reinstalled and moved right next to the transmitter, running on a Raspberry Pi 4. At the same time, we put our latest processing model on air for testing, with the aim of squeezing even better sound out of the rather unforgiving world of AM.

This weekend the technical work continues.

We will be refining the audio processing further and testing some other parts of the station audio chain as well. In practice, this means RBSK will once again be on air for reasons that may not make much sense to anyone outside the shack.

There will be music.

What kind of music is another question entirely.

Some of it may be quite normal.

Some of it probably won’t.

If you happen to be around 6120 kHz this weekend, consider yourself part of the test equipment.
